  Lady Davies

Lady DaviesLady Davies, known as Jenna, retired from the First Tier Tribunal, Property Chamber, formally the LVT, in August 2015 in preparation for her year as Master.

Jenna was born and brought up on a dairy farm in Herefordshire. She attended several schools including the Haberdasher`s High School for Girls in Monmouth and studied for the RICS professional exams at the Northern Polytechnic in Holloway.

Her first job was in the Housing Department of The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea mainly dealing with repairs and collecting rents in local authority blocks of flats.

Then came a career defining decision when Jenna was offered a job with Debenham Tewson and Chinnocks in the City and another with Chas J Parris and Quirk in Tunbridge Wells. The agricultural background won as she as she chose to join the broadly based country practice where she was involved in a wide variety of professional work (never auctioning cattle but she would probably have given it a go!)

Jenna attained FRICS status in 1976 and became a partner in the firm in 1977. For family reasons she moved in 1980 to the very similar firm of Edgar Horn in Eastbourne where she became a partner in 1982. At that time she was one of only 41 female fellows of the RICS worldwide. Jenna enjoyed becoming very involved with the Sussex Branch and became Eastern Area Chairman in 1981.

She was invited to join the LVT in 1987 as a valuer member in Sussex on a very part-time basis. After leaving private practice, this enabled her to become an active member of both the Southern and the London Panels which retained her professional involvement without the time commitment of private practice.

Jenna's interests have included sailing, riding, skiing and squash. However some maturity and common sense has now rather reduced those activities to a love of walking, bridge, the theatre, opera and cinema. She is a member of the Sloane Club.

Jenna has one daughter, Ruth, who is an architect living and practicing in Melbourne, Australia. She has two step sons and is proud to be married to Sir David Davies, who was knighted in 1994 for his services to Science and Technology. He was Master of the Worshipful Company of Engineers in 1993/4. They have a flat in the City and a house in Sussex.

Jenna joined the Livery in 1994 which has brought her full circle now giving her close involvement with the City having opted for a largely rural professional career.
