Tim Collins writes:
Eleven teams gathered at a cold Streatham Kart Raceway to contest the second annual Livery Karting event; a challenging two hour indoor endurance race.
With teams comprising between three and five drivers and a very slippery Turn Four to navigate, competition was fierce for pole position, with Daniel Connal Partnership securing the coveted front slot on the grid for the rolling start.
The flag dropped at 18:45 with an initial lead being established by Bin Lamden’s Bandits closely followed by 2009 winners Chestergate / Lambert Smith Hampton, Wacky Racers and Kolesar’s Karters.
Mid-point in the race saw the teams making their necessary kart fuel stops and drivers pizza refuel, with Chestergate / LSH maintaining a narrow lead from Kolesar’s Karters and Wacky Racers.
The position’s were shortly reversed with Kolesar’s Karters taking a lead which they held until the Chequered Flag dropped and securing the night’s fastest lap with an impressive 0:34.128 on lap 115 in the process.
The remaining podium positions were hotly contested through the closing stages of the race with Chestergate / LSH narrowly missing out on second place to Wacky Racers following a late black flag and Trident Missiles and D Connal Partnership pushing for third until the final lap.
Thanks to David Mann for organising the event and the staff of Streatham Kart Raceway for their assistance on the night.
